Faerie Ring return and so does the RIFF, all caps. Faerie Ring take what would be a cookie cutter riff from anyone else and just JUICE it so thoroughly, with passion and energy and melodic interest and the all-important rhythmic groove (much more important to a good stoner riff than loud fuzz), that it just blows out your speaker and makes you mean mug. Guaranteed. I loved the wacky sounds they created in the studio that really push this over the edge from great into bonkers-great.

I've been a fan of Demonio since their first album, and this one is even better! The music has a lot more blues and psychedelic influence this time around, and it pays off big time. The guitar has a lot of distortion and reverb which makes the riffs feel like you are traveling through time and space. And the bass holds down a solid groove in the background to keep the music moving forward. This is some great fuzzy music and if you are into underground heavy psych, definitely pick this one up.

So, Texas wins the unofficial 'Stoner Metal Competition' that the Weedian guys have apparently been running for the past however long, to the surprise of nobody who resides within the state of Texas. In all seriousness though, I don't think Weedian ever had a bad release, but I get a big 'ol 'Lone Star chauvinist' chubby when I spin my state's entry. When this happens I have a moment of shameful introspection before coming to my senses. Eagerly awaiting Volume Two: Texas Domination Boogaloo
